Thanks for the quotes on integrity.

In our lives nowadays, it is so easy to get so lost in trying to get ahead that integrity often becomes something that is compromised.

But as you quoted, “practice integrity even when you’re sure that no one else will ever know”. If only everyone can live by that, then perhaps the economic crisis that we are facing now would not have happened.

Hi Joanie,
I had the privilege to watch a mom struggle with her screaming 5 year old! That might not sound kind but in watching my heart could relate and it broke to hear her say things she would never backup; she told him Santa would not come, we’re going to the car, you’re bad.

I interrupted by letting her know that it would be ok , I’ve been there and just be patient.
Ten minutes later I’d kept shopping and was at the register only to hear him continue to scream. He was hot, tired, wanted a present now, and Mom was now just about to lose it.

As she approached another register and was checking out I found myself going over to the young boy and knelt in front of him and gave him a dollar bill, telling him to keep it and buy something for himself.
I neglected to ask the mom if it was ok but she was wiped!

I went back to finish my checking out with no fanfare…he quited down for about 1 minute! I actually said, to my shame that “I think I’ll go get my dollar back.”
She went on her way and I went on mine.

But…we crossed paths again as I was returning to the mall after putting some packages in my car and the young boy was holding the dollar out in front of him as he walked with his mom a foot ahead of him…I mean two hands holding the dollar bill in front of his chest. Our eyes met and his were sinking deep into mine. As I walked past I told him “I am so proud of you”. He continued to stare at me. I will always remember his eyes.

He was quiet.
